Summary of position
As a kitchen porter, your main duties would involve washing up, cleaning and basic food preparation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Run, load and unload the dish washer.
Keep the dish machine clear and report any functional or mechanical problem immediately.
Monitor the water temperature in the dish washer to ensure constant sanitary wash cycles.
Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware.
Keep the kitchen clean and organized.
Maintain adequate levels of cleanliness for the tableware for the floor area and the kitchen.
Bag and haul rubbish from the kitchen to the designated rubbish room.
Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage.
Maintain adequate levels of dish detergent and cleaning supplies.
Clean the food preparation areas and productions areas.
Take the rubbish outside restaurant every night or as advise by the manager/supervisor and keep the rubbish room clean.
Be available to fill in as needed to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the manager or immediate supervisor.
No previous restaurant experience required.
Be able to work in a hot, wet, humid and loud environment for long periods of time.
Be able to physically lift, reach, bend and stoop.
Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (9 hours).
Be able to safely lift bags, cases and stacks weighing up to 30kg up to 30 times per shift.
